It is my personal pleasure to offer you a warm welcome and introduction to the City of Newnan. Through our website, we hope to continue our efforts to communicate effectively with the citizens of our community and to familiarize you with the services and opportunities provided by our City.
Our community is very blessed and is extremely rich with history. Since the town was spared some of the ravages of the Civil War, we are proud to be known as “The City of Homes". The City includes six nationally registered historic districts.
With our close proximity to the nation's busiest airport, Newnan is a planned center of growth. As our residents know and our guests discover, the City of Newnan is an outstanding community that blends beautiful residential areas with a solid business community to create an ideal environment for living and working. The city also offers excellent city services, state-of-the-art safety services, and the School District is ranked “excellent” by the Georgia Department of Education. Additionally, the community parks offer biking, swimming, team sports and golfing opportunities for almost everyone.
The Newnan City Council has adopted a Comprehensive Plan and Short-Term Work Program for the City.The Comprehensive Plan explains the past, present, and future of the City and ensures the highest quality of life and service levels are maintained for the citizens of Newnan.
The Newnan Police Department and Newnan Fire Department (ISO Classification 4) do an excellent job in providing public safety to the citizens of Newnan. Our sincere gratitude is always extended to the men and women who protect and serve this great city.

Furthermore, I offer my continued thanks to the volunteers who serve on numerous boards, commissions, and authorities and to the volunteers who serve others daily in various capacities. Without question, it is our outstanding citizens who make Newnan such a wonderful place to live and work.
