The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide for a clean, sanitary and safe community for all citizens by controlling the quality of services provided by the Public Works Department.

The Public Works Department incorporates three departments, each providing unique services to the citizens of Newnan. These departments include: (1) Street (2) Garage and (3) Cemetery. Additionally, the City of Newnan has contracted with CLM Sanitation to provide collection of solid waste from residents within the City of Newnan. Residential refuse is collected once a week at curbside. Yard debris such as limbs, leaves, and yard trimmings are also collected by CLM once a week at curbside. Bulky waste such as furniture, mattresses and appliances are likewise collected once a week at curbside.

Boards and Commissions
The Clean Commission was created Summer 2003 by the Newnan City Council. The Commission was formed by each city councilmember appointing one member. This seven person commission along with the Public Works Director was formed as an anti-litter commission. The Commission meets each third Monday of the month at City Hall at 7:00 p.m.
