Duncan Street Pool as it was formerly known has been in existence since the mid 1930s. The city maintains the pool while the Coweta County Recreation Department runs daily operations. The City of Newnan is once more partnering with Coweta County Recreation Department for the new pool operations. This partnership has been in effect since the 1960s.
The pool, constructed by Georgia Development Partners, contains 4,200 square feet of water, a 42’ wide zero entry, a mushroom water feature near the zero entry, four lanes for recreational lap swimming, a dedicated catch pool for the 75’ water slide, a splash fountain for the kids, and several tables and shade umbrellas for the adults. Funding for the pool was provided by the 2007 SPLOST Program.
“The new pool is amazing. It is a first-class facility with several features designed to accommodate swimmers of all ages. I am confident the pool will become a routine summertime attraction for the families in our community,” said Cleatus Phillips, city of Newnan Community Development Director.
“We hope residents will come from all over the community to join us as we open this beautiful new pool. We hope everyone will continue to enjoy the facility for many years to come, said Gina Snider, Public Information Officer.
