City Store Now Open at The Carnegie PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 03 June 2010
The Carnegie is now the home of the new City of Newnan’s store.  The store is located on the first floor of the building at 1 LaGrange St.  Samples of items available are in a large display case as you enter the building.

“Residents and visitors would often ask if they could buy city of Newnan items and now they can!” said Gina Snider, city of Newnan Public Information Officer. “We are excited to give this opportunity to everyone who are proud to currently live, lived or traveled to Newnan. Now they can buy a little memento to remember the city by. We will be trying to get the merchandise online in the future on the city and Newnan Carnegie websites.”

“Residents and visitors will be pleased with the variety of items in the store,” said Media Coordinator Amy Mapel. “We have t-shirts, mugs, baseball caps, key chains, bags, clocks and more!”

Please call 770-683-1347 for more information. The Carnegie is open Mondays- Friday 9am - 5 pm and the 1st Saturdays of the month until 2pm.

About the Carnegie

Newly restored by the City of Newnan, the Carnegie has brought back library type services in the downtown area. The bottom floor of the building serves as a reading room and the second floor as a meeting space. Among its many offerings, the Carnegie brings popular magazines and newspapers, computer workstations and Wi-Fi access, a gallery for local exhibits, meeting rooms with warming kitchen and programs for adults and children. The Carnegie will serve the public with a non-circulating reading room, children’s area, and an art gallery. It seeks to be an integral part of the community by offering print and electronic materials. The Carnegie was funded by the General Fund and partly by 2007 Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). The Carnegie’s cost to be renovated was over $1.5 million dollars to the city.
