The city of Newnan Animal Control Officer, CyndiHoffman reminds pet owners to spay and neuter your pets. Talk aboutpreventive medicine! Removing the ovaries and uterus of a female dog orcat—otherwise known as spaying—helps prevent breast cancer and pyometra, orinfection of the uterus, and stops the animal from going into heat. (Femalecats, by the way, can go into heat every 3 weeks!) And ASPCA experts believethat many aggressive behavior problems can be avoided by neutering a male, orremoving the testicles, by the age of six months. The surgery also preventstesticular cancer, prostate disease and hernias. Most importantly spaying andneutering a pet helps control pet populations and helps animals from beingunwanted.

MemorialDay falls on Monday, May 31; CLM will observe this holiday and take Monday off.During this week all collection services (garbage, recycle and yard debris)will move forward one day.
