Keep Newnan Beautiful wants to know -Are you keeping our community clean and beautiful? KNB believes that each of us has an obligation to preserve and protect our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions, including reducing, reusing and recycling, we collectively have a huge impact on our world. It’s a simple concept, but one with far-reaching effects.  Take pride in our community by protecting our public spaces and natural resources. Here are some easy tips for a cleaner, greener America.
  • During your summer outings, don’t be a litter bug! Pick up litter you see and throw it in a trash can.
  • During your road trip to the beach or park, keep a litter bag in your car or recreational vehicle so you dispose of litter properly.
  • ghighiDon't forget to bring a separate trash bag AND recycling bag to your picnic or party. It's easier to separate recyclables before you get home. Be sure to clearly label the recycling bag to prevent contamination with food and other trash.
  • Reuse matters. When heading to the grocery store before your summer BBQ’s, remember to take a reusable bag instead of a disposable one. Carry a water bottle when exercising or attending outdoor festivities so that you can reuse it instead of disposable bottles or cups. You'll save money, too!
  • Enjoying a beverage at your friend’s holiday bash? Be sure to recycle that beer or soda can.
The city of Newnan Animal Warden, Cyndi Hoffman reminds pet owners to spay and neuter your pets. Talk about preventive medicine! Removing the ovaries and uterus of a female dog or cat—otherwise known as spaying—helps prevent breast cancer and pyometra, or infection of the uterus, and stops the animal from going into heat. (Female cats, by the way, can go into heat every 3 weeks!) And ASPCA experts believe that many aggressive behavior problems can be avoided by neutering a male, or removing the testicles, by the age of six months. The surgery also prevents testicular cancer, prostate disease and hernias. Most importantly spaying and neutering a pet helps control pet populations and helps animals from being unwanted.
