From the SafeSTEP Pedestrian Safety Campaign, here is a myth and fact for drivers.
Myth: Speed limits are just suggestions. Fact: Speeding is the primary cause in 32% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes (NHTSA). Going the speed limit vs. just five miles an hour over the speed limit means the difference of being able to stop for a young child that darts out in the street vs. hitting and killing the child.  There were two new occupational tax certificate issued by the city. The business names are JP Morgan Chase Bank, NA and Robin Adair Life Coaching. For more information on tax occupational certificates or city taxes please contact the Finance Department at 770-253-2682.

The Engineering Department would like to remind the public to avoid using too much fertilizer and chemicals on their lawns.  Over fertilizing and overuse of chemicals can not only hurt lawns, but can damage the water quality.  It can also damage our biological and aquatic habitats.  Please continue to report hot spots, spills, clogged catch basins, illegal dumping and illicit connections and discharges into the street or storm drain systems to the City of Newnan Environmental Hotline at 770-253-1823.

The city of Newnan Animal Control Warden, Cyndi Hoffman says fleas and ticks may be tiny little buggers, but they can take a bite out of your dog’s happy life. But keeping your dog critter-free is a bigger responsibility than most pet-people realize. Not only are there an overwhelming number of flea and tick products on the market, but warns that “these products may contain ingredients that could harm pets and children.” In fact at least 1,600 pet deaths related to spot on treatments with pyrethroids were reported to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over the last five years.” That’s why it’s critical to consult your vet before starting your pet on any flea and tick control products and read the labels.
