Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax is a 1 cent sales tax intended solely for voter approved capital projects and only a County Government can call for a S.P.L.O.S.T. referendum. In 1992 the first S.P.L.O.S.T. was approved in Newnan & Coweta County. Our citizens re-authorized S.P.L.O.S.T. issues in 1997, 2002, & 2007, and studies have shown that up to 40% of all S.P.L.O.S.T. revenues come from non-county residents!
