He is a former member and past president of the Newnan Bulldog Club and Newnan Country Club. In 2002, Mayor Brady was the recipient of the Metro Atlanta Boys and Girls Club’s “John Swain” Volunteer of the Year and the recipient of Georgia Community Action Association Humanitarian Award.
In addition to all these roles and accomplishments, he has served as Mayor of Newnan since 1994. On a personal note, Mayor Brady was born and educated in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1974. After graduation from UGA, he moved to Newnan and worked in the family business until 1992. He is currently owner and broker of Josey, Young, and Brady Realty. He and his wife, Katie, are the proud parents of two children, Jason and Laura. 678-471-1115 - Email Clayton Hicks was elected to the Newnan City Council in November 2006. Mr. Hicks was born and grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio. He moved to Georgia in 1999 and with the help of his then fiancé, Robyn, moved to Newnan in December of 2002.  Clayton Hicks Professionally, Mr. Hicks serves as Vice President Commercial Banking at CharterBank in their Newnan offices. He joined CharterBank as a result of the acquisition from Neighborhood Community Bank, where he served in similar capacities, prior to this he worked as a financial advisor for Edward Jones. Prior to Edward Jones he worked for Delta Air Lines in Atlanta where he held several management positions including Operations Manager, In-Flight Service Operations Control Center Manager, and Manager Strategic Planning. Mr. Hicks is active in the Newnan Rotary Club where he serves on the Board of Directors. In addition he is currently serving on the board of directors for the Three Rivers Regional Council, which was formed with the merger of the Chat-Flint RDC (where he served as Chairman of the Personnel and Finance Committee and on the merger committee) and McIntosh Trail RDC. He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, served on the campaign committee for the 2006 United Way campaign, and is a graduate of Leadership Coweta He has received his Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America and his Paratrooper Wings from the U.S. Army Airborne School. Council MemberRhodes Shell - Ward B 678-480-8729 - Email Rhodes Shell began serving on the Newnan City Council in January 2006. He is a Financial Adviser and a Certified Financial Planner for Shell Investment Services, located in downtown Newnan. He is a native of Newnan and has lived here the majority of his life.  Rhodes Shell Mr. Shell has a Masters of Business Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University. He is a graduate of Newnan High School.
Mr. Shell is a member of First Baptist Church. He is a member and past president of the Newnan Rotary Club. From 1986 to 1994, he served on the Coweta County Board of Education. He is also a past member of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Newnan Convention Center Authority, and past Chairman of the Newnan Coweta Planning Commission. Also, he served in the United States Army for two years.
He has two children, Blake, is the Director of Archer Gallery at Clark College in Portland, Oregon and also an adjunct professor at Clark College, and Katherine, a graduate of Washington, Lee University and The University of Georgia, School of Law. Katherine now resides in Washington, D.C. Mr. Shell enjoys running and has participated in the Peachtree Road Race every year since 1978. He also is an avid wild turkey hunter. Council Member Cynthia Jenkins - Mayor Pro Tem - Ward C 770-253-4088 - EmailCynthia Jenkins is a Coweta County native who was educated in the Coweta County School System and graduated from East Coweta High School in 1993. She pursued her post-secondary education at Georgia Tech, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture in 1998. She then returned to Newnan, where she is presently living in Ward-C. Since January 2004, she has served as District C Councilwoman for the Newnan City Council, and in January 2006, she was elected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem by the City Council.  Cynthia Jenkins As a councilmember, Ms. Jenkins has championed youth participation in the governing process by spearheading the formation of the Newnan Youth City Council. She has also worked to get Newnan enrolled as a participant in the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing which led to the creation of the Urban Redevelopment Plan that will facilitate more opportunities for affordable housing in Newnan. She has also been working with the Chalk Level Community to obtain property and build a new Community/Recreation Center to service the residents on the east side of Newnan. She has participated in several professional associations including membership in the National Association of Minority Architects, the American Institute of Architectural Students, Omega Phi Alpha Sorority (a service organization), the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, involvement in the Vine City Redevelopment Project in Atlanta, Georgia, the Georgia Community Development Association and a speaker for the National Congress for Community and Economic Development. She also volunteers her time to several successful community organizations. She is the Head Cheer Coach for the Coweta County Cobras 12 and under cheerleading squad. She serves as Education Commissioner for the Coweta Cobras starting up a free Study Hall Program for the organization participants and neighborhood youth. She is also participating in the 2010 Coweta’s Dancing Stars program to raise money for the Community Welcome House. Ms. Jenkins has been recognized by many groups in the community. She was honored and named Professional Woman of the Year in 2001 by the Neweta Chapter of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.; Unsung Hero in 2003 by the Coweta Press Club; featured as a top newsmaker by the Newnan-Coweta Magazine; Citizen of the Year in 2004 by the Coweta/Fayette Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity; selected by U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson to participate in the African-American Leadership Summit in 2006; Leadership Georgia Class of 2007. Bob Coggin was born on September 25, 1936 in Sargent, Georgia where he spent most of his youth. At about age 14, his family moved to a farm in the Handy community about halfway between Franklin and Newnan. Several years later, Bob left the farm to join the US Air Force. After his discharge, he joined Delta Air Lines where he worked for 42 years until he retired in 1998.  Bob Coggin His first assignment with Delta was in Atlanta as a ramp service agent where he was responsible for loading and unloading aircraft. He was promoted to a station agent in Montgomery, Alabama and held similar positions in other Delta cities. In 1962 he was promoted to a sales position in Washington, DC and, after working in Jackson, Mississippi, Philadelphia, New York City, and Atlanta, he took a senior position in Delta’s Planning Department. After serving for several years in the Planning and Advertising Departments, Bob became Senior Vice-President of Marketing and later Executive Vice-President of Marketing and a member of Delta’s four-person Executive Council. After retiring from Delta in May 1998, Bob formed a consulting business with such well known clients as Accenture, the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, Renaissance Cruises, Priceline.com and others. Bob joined Cendant Travel Distribution Services in March of 2002 and held the positions of Vice Chairman of Galileo and Vice Chairman of Travelport Airline Services before his current role as Vice Chairman of Travelport GDS. In addition to his corporate positions, Bob is also very active in business as an investor. He has significant investments in Logical Choice Technologies, Dr. Tango, Oceania Cruises, and EXM Luxury Auto Time Share, as well as other companies. Over the years he has been, and continues to be, very active in a number of civic organizations including the Chick-fil-A Bowl where he served as Chairman. He also chaired the marketing committee for the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, was Co-Chair of Hemisphere Inc., Vice Chair of the Newnan Coweta Community Foundation and a member of the Executive Committee of the Atlanta Sports Council. Bob is very involved in the Newnan Presbyterian Church where he is currently serving as an Elder. Bob and his wife Millie are also involved in a number of community activities including supporting the Boys and Girls Club, helping to acquire state of the art educational tools for the elderly through Community Action for Improvement. Bob attended Alabama Christian College and participated in a comprehensive Executive MBA program at the Kellogg Business School of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Council Member Ray DuBose, Super district Ward E (Consists of Wards A and B) 770-683-0002 - EmailRay DuBose has served on the Newnan City Council since January 2006. Mr. DuBose was born in the Canal Zone, Panama but was raised in Vero Beach, Florida. He has lived in Newnan since 1990. Mr. DuBose attended the University of Central Florida and is a graduate of Indian River College, where he majored in Business Administration. He has done post graduate studies at the Gemological Institute of America. He is a fourth generation jeweler and is currently the owner of R. S. Mann Jewelers in downtown Newnan.  Ray DuBose Currently, he is a member, and past president, of the Newnan Rotary Club, is a member, and twice past president of Main Street Newnan, is a member, and past chairman, of the Downtown Development Authority, and is a member, and past president of the Georgia Jewelers Association. Furthermore, he is a member and former director of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce. Mr. DuBose is the Georgia Jewelry Design winner for 2004, 2005, and 2006. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Formerly, Mr. DuBose served as president of the Vero Beach Volunteer Fire Department, as president of the Vero Beach/Indian River Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Vero Beach Masonic Lodge, and as president of the Indian River College Foundation. He also is the past president of the Newnan Coweta Arts Council, former member of the West Georgia University Newnan Advisory Board, and past director of Diamond Council of America. He is married to Linda DuBose. He has a daughter, Charlotte, a former Northgate High School art teacher, son-in-law, Scott, a security engineer with IBM, and granddaughters Ida Lee and Sarah, who all reside in Newnan. His son, Rob, a filed manager for Progressive Insurance, daughter-in-law, Cindy, a clinical professor with the University of Florida, and their children, Callie and James, reside in Gainesville, FL. Mr. DuBose is active in First Baptist Church in Newnan. Mr. DuBose's family roots date back to Colonial Georgia, and his great grandfather was Captain of the "The Lee" one of three Georgia Navy Revolutionary warships. His fifth great grandfather was a member of the original Georgia House of Representatives. Mr. DuBose has always loved boats and the water. Council Member George Alexander - Super district Ward F (Consists of Ward C and D) 770-251-2586 - EmailGeorge M. Alexander was elected in November 2003 to serve on the Newnan City Council. Mr. Alexander was born in El Paso, Texas, but as the son of an Air Force Colonel, he has lived throughout the United States. He has resided in Newnan for 17 years and is a pilot for Northwest Airlines.  George Alexander Mr. Alexander is a 1976 graduate of Texas A&M with a BBA in Business Management and is also a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School. He served in the United States Navy for 25 years in active and reserve roles as a Naval Officer and Carrier Pilot. He attended and graduated from the Naval War College and Air War College.
Mr. Alexander is currently a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Atlanta, President of the Newnan Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boy Scouts - Eagle Scout Board Member and Advisor, Newnan-Coweta Historical Society, Newnan Coweta Preservation Trust Board of Directors, and Air Line Pilot's Association. Mr. Alexander served on the Newnan Planning Commission for 14 years and served as Chairman for 10 years. He is a mentor at Newnan/Coweta Public Schools. Mr. Alexander is single.
