Leaf and Limb Public Notice

For Immediate Release:

 The City of Newnan, in its efforts to properly remove accumulated litter as a result of tropical storm Irma, requests that residents make every attempt to separate organic leaf and limb materials from other accumulated debris and/or solid waste.  In addition, please be advised that the City of Newnan has temporarily relaxed ordinance provision Chapter 17, Section 57(j), thereby providing residents and their commercial contractors a reprieve for a period beginning on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 and lasting until Friday, October 13, 2017 in which all yard trimmings will be collected by the City of Newnan.  Please note the following guidelines, which are related to the collection of leaf and limb litter:

  • Maximum length of debris placed out for pick up not to exceed 8 feet
  • Vegetative storm debris shall be keep separate from all other types of debris
  • All debris piles shall be placed within 8 feet of the curb
  • Debris piles shall not be placed in the street (piles could be sitting for 3 weeks before removal)
  • Debris piles shall not be placed under low hanging limbs or power lines
  • Debris piles shall not be placed on any storm drainage structures
  • Debris piles shall not be placed in a manner that block water meters or hydrants
  • Exemptions shall not be granted to any land clearing activities not related to storm damage.
